Materials for this category
Selected for durability in wet, sunlit, and salty conditions. For anything permanently exposed to sun and salt we use ASA — it is UV-stable, stays colour-fast and does not become brittle the way most filaments do after a season or two outdoors. For splash-zone and sheltered parts, where cost matters more than years of direct UV, PETG is the sensible choice. We will tell you which applies to your part, and the expected service life, before printing.

Can you replace a discontinued boat part?
- Usually, yes. This is among the most common requests 3DOME Malta receives. Send measurements or the broken original and we model a replacement from it. For parts no longer manufactured, or where the original supplier has a long lead time, printing locally in Malta is often faster and cheaper than importing.
Will a 3D printed part survive saltwater and sun?
- In the right material, yes. 3DOME Malta prints permanently exposed marine parts in ASA, which is UV-stable and colour-fast and does not become brittle after a season outdoors the way PLA and, over time, PETG do. Sheltered and splash-zone parts are printed in PETG, which is tougher on cost. We will tell you which applies to your part and the expected service life before printing.
What marine parts do you commonly make?
- Replacement clips and fittings, custom mounts and brackets, rod and equipment holders, hatch and locker hardware, storage sized to awkward spaces, console and rail accessories, and branded items for charter fleets and yacht services.
Can you match an existing part exactly?
- Yes. Provide the original, a photograph with a scale reference, or measurements, and 3DOME Malta will model a dimensional match. Where the original failed because of a design weakness, we can reinforce the part rather than reproduce the flaw.
How much does a custom boat part cost?
- A simple replacement clip or fitting from measurements you supply typically costs between €15 and €45 at 3DOME Malta. A custom bracket or mount that needs CAD modelling from a photograph or a broken original usually falls between €80 and €250. Printing in ASA for UV stability costs a little more than PETG and is worth it for anything permanently exposed.
