WHAT IT MEANS
What the CE mark actually is.
CE marking is a manufacturer’s declaration that a product meets the requirements of the EU legislation that applies to it. Where a product falls within that legislation, the manufacturer carries out the applicable conformity assessment, compiles a technical file and issues a Declaration of Conformity. For anything we make, that manufacturer is us.
It is worth being precise about two things the CE mark is not. It is not a quality rating — it is a statement of legal conformity. And it is not a mark of European origin; imported goods carry it too. Our claim to EU manufacture rests on where the parts are actually made, which is Malta and Italy.
Documented materials
We buy filament from named EU and EU-compliant suppliers and keep the datasheets. Where a part needs food-contact or skin-safe material, we can show you which grade was used.

SCOPE
Does my product need CE marking?
Usually not. CE marking is specific to the legislation covering a given product, and most bespoke 3D printed parts fall outside it. Here is how we assess it.

Toys and children’s products
Products intended for play by children under 14 fall under the Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC). These require conformity assessment, technical documentation and a Declaration of Conformity before they carry the CE mark.

Products placed on the market under other EU legislation
Electrical enclosures, PPE components, machinery parts and similar categories each have their own applicable legislation. Where your product falls inside one, we work through the applicable conformity-assessment route and supply the documentation.
NORMALLY OUT OF SCOPE
Most bespoke and replacement parts
A one-off bracket, a mount, a jig or a replacement for a discontinued component generally falls outside any legislation requiring CE marking. We will tell you so rather than apply a mark that does not belong there.

Corporate gifts, trophies and display pieces
Decorative and promotional items for adult use are normally outside CE scope. Material safety documentation is still available on request.
